As I had to replace my last colander/strainer after years of tender care, I though that this one might be nice. It is a bit bigger than my last one height wise, but my last one hand a handle instead of a base to rest it on.
This is the 3 Quart Pro Chef Kitchen tools colander, not the 5 quart version. The current price is $15.95 as I write this. Relatively speaking, it is on the higher priced side compared to some of the other 3 or even 5 quart versions, but it is not the most expensive one either by far.
It is made from 18/10 stainless steel, which is has a much higher corrosion resistance than 18/0 or 430 stainless steel. So I expect it to last longer than those made out of the cheaper material.
The handles are each attached with 3 spot weld, and I gave them a tug, and they didn’t fall off, or crack. The base is attached with 4 spot welds.
This is good for me to use to wash salads, fruits, veggies, and I can even set meat in there as i rinse it, or let it thaw. When thawing I do put a place underneath it to catch the excess water. Since it does have a base, it will set on the place without falling over.
As long as the price doesn’t go higher in the near future, I would say it is an alright colander. If the price goes too much higher, I’d just get a different one.
